Teach her to love herself by example. Eloise has the best little curls! I should learn to love mine so she doesn’t want to destroy them the way I do mine. She’s also THICK! I need to do all I can to make her proud of her thick thighs and big ole booty. Maybe she’ll grow out of them one day, maybe she won’t, but either way I need to show her that you should love your curves. I’ll never be a skinny girl and that’s ok! But once this boy is out of me I am going to work my ass off to be healthy
!Society is going to tell girls they need to look a specific way to be beautiful, but when she comes home she needs to always be told that she is beautiful and perfect just the way she is.
When she sees me putting on make-up, I will tell her that it is not to make Mommy look pretty, but to make Mommy feel fancy. No one needs to paint themselves to be beautiful, but sometimes on the rougher days, make-up can be a valuable war paint.
I will learn to love and take care of my curls so that we can rock them together. If she decides one day that she prefers to straighten or color her hair, it’ll be because she wants to, not because she doesn’t feel confident in her own hair anymore.
When she sees me going to the gym and losing weight, I’ll tell her that I’m working to get and stay healthy, not trying to be a certain size or to fit into a specific outfit. We will celebrate health goals met together, not measure pounds lost.
What are some other great ways to show my daughter to love herself?
